Every one of these posts is surprising, insightful, humorous and (oh yes) thoutful, clever-- and, upon reflection, a great boost to my day!

That's wonderful to hear! Thank you very much. I go for "surprisingly insightful," but this is close!

Nice dissection, Kal. I've occasionally tried to parse corporate communications but usually end up quitting in disgust. It's too much like dissecting political speeches. You're more patient than I am.

I'm not a fan of Verizon anyway. I tried to switch to them a few years ago when they were offering new customers a free phone, watch and tablet. But not honoring the ads, the store wanted me to pay for the phone. The bait and switch made me mad and I ended up with T-Mobile with a free phone and watch (I already had a tablet so I didn't bother with that).

BTW, I am enjoying your posts. Thanks for letting me join.

I'm so glad you're enjoying the pieces -- I love your comments and feedback! Thanks for reading!

I really have been a Verizon customer for 30 years, and I can attest that they *should* focus on delighting customers more. I got a good deal, but the iPhone-Apple Watch-iPad deal they were advertising wasn't *quite* as good as the ads suggested, so I didn't get it.

I had to reread the "bearing down" sentence a few times. That was some odd and unfortunate wording. Didn't make me think of birth exactly. I guess I should have sold my Verizon stock yesterday because it doesn't seem promising.

Isn't that a weird one? This letter must have been written by committee. "Bear down" is a strange "team" message.

Maybe it was written by an AI bot? ;)

Verizon's CEO should have told it to dial down the jargon and put the empathy up higher in the letter!
